This issue has caused me deep concern since I was old enough to understand it. The part of me concerned primarily with results would accept any justification for the abolition of capital punishment. But I confess feeling resentful when the emphasis is not placed on the immorality of capital punishment. Discrimination in application, the execution of the innocent, and the high cost are all serious problems. But, ultimately, the death penalty is wrong because killing other human beings is wrong. I want to frame the argument that way.
